A podcaster has been cautioned by police after he told Michael Gove's wife that he wanted to kick the Tory minister's testicles in front of their children on social media.
Andy Dawson, who co-hosts Athletico Mince with Bob Mortimer, posted the message on Twitter which sparked a backlash.
The controversial tweet, sent to Sarah Vine, stated the presenter would "pay hard cash to chase the f***** down the street and boot" the MP in the groin.
He added that such an event would unfold "in front of your kids".
Mr Dawson, who wrote some articles for Mirror Online before launching the podcast in 2016, has since deleted the tweet and his account.
While some defended it as a misguided attempt at humour, others felt the 47-year-old from Sunderland, had gone "too far" and vowed never to listen to the show again
Chi Onwurah, MP for Newcastle Central, said that despite disagreeing "strongly with Mr Gove on just about everything," the tweet was out of order given the abuse she and other politicians previously faced online from trolls.
Mr Dawson declined to comment when contacted by Chronicle Live and has not responded to a further request.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "A 47-year-old man has been interviewed under caution in connection with a report of malicious communication.
“He has since received a caution by police."
Athletico Mince has become a cult favourite.
Each episode attracts around 200,000 listeners, and features surreal sketches lampooning ex-footballers such as Peter Beardsley and Mark Lawrenson.
Mr Gove's office has yet to respond to a request for comment.
