Atalanta star reveals 'so much anger' as Man United make four substitutions to win thriller

Davide Zappacosta has admitted he has 'so much regret and anger' after Manchester United beat Atalanta 3-2 on Wednesday.

Atalanta were always going to represent a tricky challenge for United to overcome, especially when considering Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side went into the Champions League fixture struggling for form, and the Italian side delivered on that promise.

Gian Piero Gasperini's side stunned Old Trafford on Wednesday night when taking the lead thanks to Mario Pasalic's goal from close range and they didn't need long to score another - Merih Demiral doubled the visitors' lead before half-time.

United looked transformed in the second half, though, and goals from Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo completed a sensational comeback, which sent a full capacity Old Trafford into pandemonium under the floodlights.

Atalanta right-back Zappacosta was interviewed after his side's defeat and the former Chelsea player admitted that United's substitutions changed the game, explaining that it was difficult to play against four players in particular.

"There is so much regret and anger. We started very well, we feel we have thrown away a game," Zappacosta told TMW.

"There is so much disappointment because it was the first time for Atalanta in this stadium, we wanted to make a good impression.

"They raised the tempo and we have lowered our tempo a little. Through the substitutions, they put us in difficulty.

"They brought in many players and we found ourselves facing Cavani, Pogba, Greenwood, Ronaldo.”
