At your doorstep: Noida to hear out urban villagers

NOIDA: Lakhs of people staying in the urban villages of Noida will no longer feel left out. Taking note of the increased number of complaints from the residents of those areas, the Noida Authority will soon launch a public-connect drive — Noida Aapke Dwar (Noida at your doorstep).

The first visit is slated for August 3 in Sarfabad and post that 16 more villages will be covered by September 30 on every Tuesday and Thursday of the week. Complaints of the residents will be entered into a centralised system for time-bound disposal and acknowledgement numbers will be issued, officials have said. Over the years, Noida has been developed after taking over land in 81 villages. A team of senior officials will inspect the localities. Chief general manager of civil works, general manager of water and sewerage works, and senior project engineer of public health will be present during the inspection drives, along with others.

“We have finalised the roster for the months of August and September. The drive will be initiated from August 3 and will go on up to September 30. After that, we will cover the remaining villages after finalising the roster for October and November,” said CGM of civil works, Rajeev Tyagi.

Hasnain Siddiqui, a resident of Kakrala village, said, “Whenever we call up the helpline numbers of the Noida Authority, we are asked to lodge a complaint on the web portal or mobile app. A lot of families in the village do not even have smartphones. Hence grievances of villagers remain unattended. The Authority should come up with inclusive schemes and methods to deal with both urban and village population,” he added.

According to Dharmendra Chauhan, president of the Raipur Khadar village development committee, Raipur Khadar is supposed to be turned into a model village by the Authority. “No commercial complex has been built, drains are uncovered, water connection by authority has not yet been provided,” he said.
