A server has left her TikTok viewers speechless–and gagging–after revealing a secret restaurants for sure don’t want you to know. In a viral clip, Adri (@the.middlechild0) reveals how the restaurant she worked at had her “cleaning” the silverware.
Adri films herself squeezing some lemons into a jar of water, which is already filled with lemon slices. She then takes a fork and stirs the water before putting it on a plastic tray. Adri does this with another fork, panning her camera to show a tray filled with dirty silverware.
Her caption added more context to what she was doing. “Never trust restaurants,” she wrote in the text overlay. “This is how they had us cleaning silverware at a seafood boil restaurant.”
Viewers are skeptical
Many accused Adri of lying, stating that such a practice had never been heard of in the restaurant industry.
“I have worked in restaurants for 27 years and never in my life seen anything like this,” one top comment read. Another shared, “I’ve never worked in a restaurant where we didn’t wash our silverware. The only time we did this is if we were polishing after washing.”
One who appeared to have insider knowledge about working at Texas Roadhouse shared their own experience. “At txrh they rinse them, they you sort, then they get washed and then rolled but a girl for about a month never sent them back in to get washed so all these people just had rinsed off siverware for a month,” they said. “No one knew till it was too late.”
Several others also pointed out that what Adri was doing was “polishing” or to get the fish smell off. But Adri assured them this wasn’t the case.
“The dishwasher was never used,” she wrote in reply to such a comment. “Just sprayed and wiped and then this. Thankfully, they are no longer in business.”
Adri wrote that the restaurant was called Ocean Breeze in Jacksonville, Florida. She says they were shut down shortly after for “too many violations.” She also added that she made sure no one used the silverware.
Adri defends her statement
In a follow-up clip, Adri addressed one of the comments that accused her of lying. She demonstrates her point by taking a big bite of pasta, then rinsing her fork. She shows it to the camera, emphasizing how “clean” it looks.
“Just because something looks like it’s clean doesn’t mean that it is,” she says. She says how the owners of the restaurant she worked at would have her rinse the silverware to make sure there was no food on it, then have her dip it in the lemon water, then place it on the tray to dry.
“I only worked there four days,” Adri continues. “I never gave any of my tables the actual silverware.” She says she would only give them plastic. Not many used the silverware because it was a seafood boil restaurant (where you mostly use your hands), but she still sent the video to the health department, which led to them being shut down.

Adri continues that everything at the restaurant was sketchy, even paychecks (it was off the books). The restaurant had only been open for two weeks when she got hired, but they only lasted for a month, she says, before the health department shut them down.
“I’ve worked in plenty of [restaurants] and never, ever, ever have i seen anything this bad,” Adri concludes. “But this is exactly why they have these health inspector who come in and make sure restaurants are up to code.”
She again reiterates: “Don’t trust everything that you see. Just because something looks clean doesn’t mean it’s clean.”
