'At the end of this storm... what?' - Ex-Liverpool CEO Peter Moore hits out at European Super League

Peter Moore has questioned Liverpool's decision to back plans for a European Super League.

The former Reds CEO, who only stepped down last summer after three years before being replaced by Billy Hogan, sent out a heart-wrenching statement after serious criticism was fired at the club over their new proposal on the continent.

On Sunday, Liverpool announced they were one of 12 elite football clubs in Europe who had founded a closed-shop breakaway league that would "commence as soon as practicable."

The clubs involved, which also include the Premier League's so-called 'Big Six', were condemned for their actions by fans, pundits and even managers and players from the institutions involved.

And now, Moore has outlined his thoughts on the controversial plans while his successor Hogan - who has worked for FSG since 2004 - and the rest of the Liverpool owners' heirachy have stayed quiet.

He wrote on Twitter: "When we had nothing, we had the footie. We had St.John, Hunt and Callaghan.

"Shankly came and gave us our pride back, and put hope in our hearts. We lived for 3pm on Saturday.

"The Boys Pen, the Paddock, the unbridled, euphoric mayhem that was The Kop....

"Look after your car for sixpence? The sense of optimism in an otherwise hard grafting life.

"Affinity to the only thing that, for many, gave them self-worth. The highs and lows of winning and losing. Now, at the end of this storm...what? #YNWA".

Moore has joined both Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and vice-captain James Milner in voicing a view against the Super League while Virgil van Dijk has also shown where his feelings lie after agreeing with pundit Gary Lineker that the "anti-football pyramid scheme could be stopped" by liking the former striker's tweet about the issue.
