Since it was founded in 1966, Shelter has been an organisation with both campaigning and helping people directly at its heart. Our advice and support services work tirelessly to make sure that no-one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own. And our campaigns aim to prevent it from happening in the first place.
Whether it’s improving the private rented sector, protecting the housing safety net, or giving hope to those priced out of a home of their own, we’re at the forefront of the fight to make sure that everyone has a decent place to call home.
We are currently developing a new organisational strategy to make us the leading change-makers in the UK, and to make this happen we are looking to fill three exciting roles: head of marketing, communications and campaigns, head of campaigns and programme director for digital transformation.
This new strategy couldn’t come at a more critical time for Shelter. Our housing crisis is rising further up the public and political agenda, and Shelter got it there. We now need new talent to join our ground-breaking team and help push the organisation even further. With people’s homes and donor’s money on the line, winning is what counts, so we’re ruthlessly focused on what changes opinion, encourages support and increases our reach to help more people.
We want to never missing an opportunity to tell the story of what we do, increase our impact both publically and politically, and strengthen the support for our work. We’re aiming for a step-change in how we integrate our communications and make sure they are inspired by, engaging for and targeted to our various public audiences. Strategy isn’t a bind for us, it’s the foundation for being creative and taking risks others won’t.
We are also establishing an ambitious programme to completely transform how we use digital technology and platforms to allow us to help more people directly, integrate our services, and improve our fundraising and change-campaigns. Our board is clear, Shelter should be a sector leader in using digital by the end of the next three years.
We need a head of marketing, communications and campaigns with the leadership, management, creativity and communications nous to make change happen; a programme director to oversee our digital transformation and make sure we stay top of our game in this ever-changing area; and finally, a head of campaigns to lead a well-established and successful team set on winning big - whether it’s through changing the law, public opinion or market behaviour.
We won’t rest until everyone has a safe and affordable place to call home, and there has never been a more exciting time for to join some of the brightest brains in the business to campaign for lasting change and continue to increase the impact of Shelter’s vital work.
