At least two dead as baseball-size hail and tornadoes hit US Midwest

Baseball-size hailstones and tornadoes hit the US Midwest killing at least two people, destroying homes and leaving thousands without power.

A twister struck near the town of Ottawa, Illinois, killing at least one person.

Another person was killed near Perryville, Missouri, where storms flipped over cars and took down trees and power lines.

Tornado spotters reported 23 twister sightings in Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Tennessee and Indiana last night, the National Weather Service said.
