At least ten injured after man dressed as Joker 'terrorises rail passengers with knife'

At least ten people people have been injured after a man dressed as the Joker attacked passengers with a knife on board a train in Tokyo.

It has been reported that the incident took place on Sunday night on the Keio Express Line as revellers made their way out to Halloween celebrations.

Witnesses reported the 24-year-old man carrying a blood stained knife, with many believing that it was a stunt for the October 31 celebrations.

A number of people are said to have been injured in the attack, with a man in his 60s in a critical condition after being stabbed.

Several people claimed that the attacker was seen pouring fluid around a train and started a fire on board.

One video from the scene showed a stream of people running away from the train before a small explosion resulted in a fire.

Passengers were also seen rushing to squeeze out of the train’s windows and onto the platform in another video that emerged online.

One witness recalled the moment he saw other passengers running in a panic towards his train car, in an interview with local media.

He said: “Then I saw a man walking this way, slowly facing a long knife.”

The were also reports that acid was used in the attack, but this has not been confirmed by police.

Local TV footage showed scores of firefighters, police and emergency vehicle outside the station where the train had stopped.

The alleged attacker was arrested on the spot by police, it has been reported by local media.
