At least one mystery team reportedly in play for DE Robert Quinn

Yesterday, it was announced that Robert Quinn would be visiting with the New Orleans Saints with permission from the Dolphins. The hope is to find a suitor for Quinn willing to pay up for what Miami feels is adequate value for the veteran pass rusher.

Last week, Quinn was in Dallas trying to entice the Cowboys to jump at an offer. While that meeting reportedly went well, there’s been no traction to a deal yet.

Fortunately for Miami, apparently the interest doesn’t just stop with these two NFC contenders. Chris Grier informed the media yesterday during his break at the League meetings that there’s been a few more phone calls fielded regarding Quinn and his availability.

“A couple of other teams have called and inquired about him (Quinn) recently,” offered Grier.

Well, well, well. It sounds like the only thing that will prevent the Dolphins from moving Quinn this summer will be if they’re stubborn with their asking price…or their cash. It’s been reported that the Dolphins are willing to pay up for a portion of Quinn’s 2019 salary to help facilitate a deal. But what kind of pick can a few million dollars buy?

If teams aren’t willing to play ball, Miami has a trump card in their back pocket.

“We can keep him on this roster if we have to. He’s a good player…”

Grier’s words are likely posturing at this point, but it would be fascinating to see things pushed to that limit. But there’s little doubt with Grier running the show that the Dolphins won’t be played for fools.
