At least fifty cars formed a huge queue outside a Greater Manchester KFC over the Bank Holiday weekend

Long queues have formed outside KFC branches across Greater Manchester during the Bank Holiday weekend.

The fast food chain made the decision to re-open some of their restaurants on May 4.

Fast food fans were desperate to get their fix of fried chicken this weekend and travelled to the restaurant to pick up a drive-thru meal.

In Levenshulme, there were around 50 drivers seen queueing outside the local branch.

Neighbours in the area said the queue has sometimes been backing up onto the A6, causing traffic problems for drivers.

A long line of drivers could also be seen waiting to collect a KFC on Rowlands Way, in Wythenshawe.

The queue could be seen snaking across the entire road and onto Simonsway.

There were also reports of queues outside the KFC on Hulme High Street, in Hulme.

Bosses at KFC have advised customers to order a delivery meal instead of going to a drive-thru to make it easier for key workers to collect a meal without queuing.

The chicken chain said: "We know it's tempting, but please, don't all rush at once!

"Delivery remains the best way to get your fried chicken fix - we just want to offer a little more choice to those who are already on the road for essential journeys or on their way home from difficult shifts."

A KFC spokesman said: “People of Manchester, we’ve missed you too!

"We’ve been working really hard to make sure that every restaurant re-opening is done responsibly and we’re glad to welcome you back at the drive-thru for your favourite fried chicken when you’re already out and about.

"Delivery is also still an option for those staying at home through Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats.”
