Danny Rose will miss Tottenham’s next Premier League game against Everton.
The Spurs full-back picked up his fifth booking of the season when he brought down Jordan Henderson, and a result will miss his side's trip to Merseyside next weekend.
Despite it initially looking as though Moussa Sissoko had been fouled by both Henderson and Roberto Firmino, referee Anthony Taylor waved played on, with Rose taking out the Liverpool skipper in the next phase of play.
Gary Neville, on commentary duty for Sky Sports at Anfield, felt the right the call was made by Taylor.
"I think Danny Rose won the ball, but the aggressive nature of the challenge means it's a yellow," Neville said.
The booking came just minutes after team-mate Sissoko was shown a yellow card after pushing Andy Robertson following a heated exchange on the touchline.
Rose picked up his first booking of the season against Newcastle United back in August, before further cautions followed against Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Watford.
Rose will be back available for selection against Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League on Wednesday, November 6, before being able to return to Premier League action three days later when his side host Sheffield United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
But some Spurs fans have expressed their delight at the fact that Rose's booking could mean an opportunity for Ben Davies or summer signing Ryan Sessegnon in the game at Goodison Park next weekend.
