Aug. 29--A man was killed and at least 11 people have been wounded in separate shootings since late Friday across the city, police said.
A man was shot to death and another man was hurt in a shooting around 4:10 a.m. Saturday in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side, said Chicago Police Department spokeswoman Officer Amina Greer.
A 34-year-old man and a 28-year-old man were sitting in a parked vehicle in the 2900 block of West Lexington Street when someone in a black vehicle pulled up next to them and fired shots, Greer said.
The 34-year-old was shot in the chest and shoulder. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Greer said.
The 28-year-old was shot in the neck, chest and shoulder and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized, Greer said.
No one was in custody in connection with the shooting as of early Saturday.
In other shootings:
--A 26-year-old woman was wounded around 4:30 a.m. Saturday in the Morgan Park neighborhood on the Far South Side, Greer said.
The woman was in the 1500 block of West 111th Street when she started arguing with a 25-year-old man, Greer said.
During the argument, the man pulled out a gun and fired shots, striking the woman in the arm, Greer said.
The woman was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where her condition stabilized, Greer said.
The man was taken into custody shortly after the shooting, but no charges had been officially filed against him as of early Saturday, Greer said.
--About 3:10 a.m. Saturday, a 27-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side, said Chicago Police Department spokeswoman Officer Janel Sedevic.
The man was driving a vehicle in the 12100 block of South Front Avenue when someone walking in the area fired shots, Sedevic said.
The man was shot in the shoulder and managed to drive himself to Roseland Community Hospital. He was later transferred to Advocate Christ, where he was listed in critical condition, Sedevic said.
Police said the shooting is possibly gang-related.
--About 2:40 a.m. Saturday, a 29-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in the North Center neighborhood on the North Side, Greer said. The man was in the 2300 block of West Addison Street when he was shot in the leg, Greer said, citing preliminary information. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, and his condition was not immediately known, Greer said.
--About 1:50 a.m. Saturday, a 40-year-old man was hurt in a shooting in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, Greer said. The man was in the 3900 block of West Monroe Street when he was shot in the foot, Greer said, citing preliminary information. The man managed to get himself to Stroger Hospital. His condition was not available, Greer said.
--About 1:05 a.m. Saturday, two men were hurt in a shooting in the South Shore neighborhood on the South Side, Greer said.
A 25-year-old man and a 23-year-old man were sitting inside a residence in the 7300 block of South Kingston Avenue when someone fired shots outside, striking them, Greer said.
The 25-year-old was shot in the face. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition stabilized.
The 23-year-old suffered several gunshot wounds to his face and body. He was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial.
Police said the 25-year-old man is a documented gang member.
--About 11:55 p.m. Friday, a 16-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting on the Kennedy Expressway near the Bucktown neighborhood on the Northwest Side, police said.
The victim was a passenger of a dark-colored Chrysler Town Country traveling north on the Interstate 90/94 ramp near Damen Avenue when a white panel van pulled up and someone inside fired shots, striking the Chrysler, according to the Illinois State Police.
The Chrysler stopped at the intersection of Fullerton and Western avenues, where an ambulance was called.
The male passenger was hit in the shoulder and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said. His injuries were minor, according to Illinois State Police.
No one was in custody as a result of the shooting.
--About 11:45 p.m. Friday, a 23-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side, Greer said. The man was walking outside in the 3200 block of West Pierce Avenue when someone in a passing vehicle fired shots, striking him in the ankle, Greer said. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized, Greer said.
--About 10:40 p.m. Friday, a 32-year-old man and a 7-year-old girl were wounded in a shooting in the North Kenwood neighborhood on the South Side, Greer said.
The man and the girl were in a vehicle in the 4600 block of South Ellis Avenue when someone walked up to them and fired shots, Greer said.
The man, who was hit in the back, drove to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was treated and released, Greer said.
The 7-year-old girl was hit in the arm and was taken to Comer Children's Hospital, where she was expected to be treated and released, Greer said.
