Four people have died and at least 97 people have been injured following an explosion at a firework factory in Hendek, Turkey.
It was not immediately clear what triggered the blast, but the head of the Turkish Red Crescent has urged residents living nearby to remain indoors, shut windows over concerns of a possible chemical gas release.
Sakarya Governor Çetin Oktay Kaldırım said there was about 150 to 200 people working in the factory at the time.
The explosion occurred at the factory, which holds more than 110 tonnes of fireworks in its warehouse, in the Sakarya district on the Black Sea coast.
A huge plume of dark grey smoke rose from the area, video footage on CNN Turk showed, as rockets were also seen shooting into the sky.
Firefighters and at least 85 ambulances were sent to the scene and the injured people have been taken to hospital.
Mr Kaldırım said: “All security measures were taken around the factory.
"Since it is a fireworks factory, and the explosions continue, we cannot intervene at the moment."
Turkey's interior, health and labour ministers went to Sakarya to monitor the situation, Anadolu news agency said.
