At least 381 in Greater Manchester have now died from coronavirus - 22 more fatalities have been confirmed

At least 381 people have now died in Greater Manchester's hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus.

The latest NHS England data shows that 22 more COVID-19 deaths have been recorded since Thursday, April 9.

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust announced seven more deaths today.

It has the highest number of deaths in the region.

There were also three more deaths at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, four more deaths at Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, one more at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, two more at Tameside, one more at The Christie and four more at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust.

There were no new coroanvirus-related fatalities at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport.

NHS England said at least 866 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths in hospitals in England to 8,114.

The total figures for coronavirus related deaths at Greater Manchester hospitals as of the afternoon April 10

  • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 52
  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 91
  • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 64
  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 71
  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 28
  • Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 40
  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 3
  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 32

Some of the larger trusts run several hospitals in Greater Manchester.

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust oversees the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI), Wythenshawe Hospital and Trafford General, while Pennine Acute is in charge of North Manchester General Hospital, Fairfield Hospital, the Royal Oldham Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary.

The government's figures relate to patients who have died in hospital and do not include deaths in the community, for example in care homes, so the true death toll will be higher.
