At least 28 people - including children - have been hurt after a fairground ride "snapped in half".
Many of the victims were left trapped under the wreckage after the merry-go-round broke suddenly.
Emergency services dashed to San José de la Rinconada fair in La Rinconada, near Seville in Spain.
An eleven-year-old girl was airlifted with serious head and leg injuries. Another woman was severely wounded and also taken by helicopter to a hospital in Seville at around 2am.
It is said nine people in total were rushed to hospital.
Others were treated at the scene.
Police have opened an investigation to confirm the cause of the accident.
The attraction, which belongs to the Mundopark fair, was built in 2001, and had passed all the required safety inspections, according to the Spanish press.
In a statement, Emergencies 112 Andalusia said they started to receive 112 notices from individuals reporting that an attraction seemed to have lost control and had become detached.
The same sources requested assistance for several injured people.
Police, fire crews and the Civil Guard all rushed to the scene.
