At least 12 wounded in weekend shootings across Chicago

CHICAGO _ At least 12 people have been wounded in weekend shootings since 3 p.m. Friday, Chicago police said.

The latest happened shortly before 3:45 a.m. Saturday in the city's Cragin neighborhood. A 25-year-old man was driving when he heard shots and felt pain in his leg. He pulled into a gas station, where an ambulance was called.

He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized.

Shortly after 2:30 a.m., a woman, a man and a teenage boy were shot on the South Side in the Chatham neighborhood, police said.

A 24-year-old woman was sitting in a parked vehicle with a group of friends who were talking to people who were standing outside when shots rang out.

The woman suffered a gunshot wound to the head, and the vehicle she was in fled and an ambulance was called. A 16-year-old boy was struck in an arm, knee and back, and a 22-year-old man suffered a wound to back.

All three were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where their conditions were stabilized, police said.

In other weekend attacks:

_ About 3:20 p.m. Friday in the 8200 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue, a 46-year-old man suffered a wound to the face and a graze wound to the right side of the body after hearing an argument outside. Someone entered the location where he was and fired shots before fleeing. He went to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

_ About 4:15 p.m. two people were shot in the 200 block of North Leamington Avenue. A 25-year-old man was shot in the lower left leg and was taken to West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, where his condition was stabilized. A second victim, 24, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

_ About 8 p.m. in the 4800 block of North Leavitt Street, a 31-year-old man was shot in the shoulder and took himself to Swedish Covenant Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

_ About 9:30 p.m. Friday in the 2700 block of North Avers Avenue, an 18-year-old man was shot in the ankle. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition.

_ About 11:15 p.m. Friday in the 7500 block of South Union Avenue, a 33-year-old man was walking when he was shot twice in the leg. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center and listed in good condition.

_ About 12:10 a.m. Saturday in the 3500 block of West Belmont Avenue, a 35-year-old man was shot in the hip by someone in a dark-colored pickup truck. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

_ About 2 a.m. Saturday in the 5600 block of West Addison Street, a 30-year-old man was shot in the abdomen. He walked to Community First Hospital and later was transferred to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. The victim was uncooperative with police. No one was in custody.
