At least 11 homes lost as upper reaches of Catalina bear brunt of fire

The Heron Road and Gannet Place area at the top of Catalina took the full brunt of the Clyde Mountain Fire on New Year's Eve morning.

At least 11 homes were gutted after fire roared up the slope from Mogo.

Bush was destroyed between Heron Road and Penguin Place.

Some families had returned home on New Year's Day after waiting out the fire at the Batemans Bay evacuation centre the day before.
