At JEE(Main), at least 13 top 99 percentile in Goa

PANAJI: Ponda resident Harsh Khandeparker, with a score of 99.91 percentile, was declared the Goa state topper at the JEE(Main), the results of which were declared on Wednesday.

Manali Manjrekar from Porvorim, with a score of 99.78 percentile, was announced the state’s female topper, by the national testing agency (NTA).

Both are students of Mushtifund Aryaan higher secondary school, Cujira.

This year, in a first, at least 13 students from Goa, most from the same school, breached the 99-percentile mark.

‘School teachers were there for us’

Harsh’s aim is to get into one of the prestigious old IITs after answering the JEE (Advanced). Harsh said he is inclined towards the field of electronics. He has an all India rank of 1,040 at JEE (Main). Close behind is Joshua Barretto, with a score of 99.90 percentile and an all-India rank of 1,208. Ratan Doddalinganwar has scored 99.89 percentile and secured a national rank of 1,286. At 99.83 percentile, Agrajah Bhobe too has managed to breach the 99-percentile mark, and attained a rank of 1,986.

Manali said she will either pursue programmes in the pure sciences or engineering. “Our school teachers were there for us at all times,” said Manali.

Swatit Rao Valaulicar (99.69), Sairaj Ghosarwadekar (99.55), Hariharan R (99.56), Nilay Kamat (99.44), Aditya Bhat (99.31), Amit Kuvelkar (99.31), Rujula Kamat (99.29), and Abhinn Tari (99.06) were the other students who scored more than 99 percentile.

“Considering the best of all four JEE (Main) exams, altogether eight of our students scored over 99.5 percentile and came in the top 5,000 in the country. This is an all-time record from Goa,” said Mushtifund Aryaan director Vyankatesh Prabhudesai.
