'Astounding' - Liverpool fans slam VAR call after Mohamed Salah incident against Burnley

Liverpool gained a 1-0 first half lead against Burnley at Turf Moor, but should they have had a penalty?

Midway through the half Mohamed Salah appeared to be tripped in the penalty area as he tried to play the ball out wide.

Play continued, with Burnley breaking down the other end to attack, but after a VAR check on the original incident, no penalty was awarded.

VERDICT: Liverpool send title message to City as four squad absences speak volumes

PLAYER RATINGS: Alisson and Keita good but two stars struggle against Burnley

The decision created quite some reaction from fans on Twitter.

@RoryGreenfield Tweeted: "There is no point getting upset about penalty decisions, they are simply never given anymore. Joke."

@SamAlex Tweeted: "LiVARpool, right lads? Right?! Honestly. He’s in the box, he’s tripped, it stops him getting to the ball.

"They have unlimited replays at it. It’s astounding."

Liverpool went on to seal the 1-0 win thanks to Fabinho's strike.

Next up for the Reds is a Champions League clash away to Inter Milan on Wednesday night.
