Jaw-dropping details of a Cheshire family's lavish lifestyle have been revealed in a High Court battle over child maintenance.
A multimillionaire businessman must pay his ex-partner more than £150,000 a year to cover the cost of bringing up his four-year-old daughter who has been wearing designer clothes since infancy, a judge ruled.
Mrs Justice Roberts heard that the girl already had a Louis Vuitton handbag, and was told that her first ski suit cost nearly £1,000.
She said the man, who is worth nearly £200 million, must also pay his daughter’s private school fees and cover 'all reasonable extras' on the school bill.
The girl’s parents – who lived in a £4.3 million home in Cheshire’s 'Golden Triangle' around Wilmslow, Prestbury and Alderley Edge – became involved in a dispute over money after their seven-year relationship broke down.
Mrs Justice Roberts outlined detail of the dispute in a ruling published online after considering evidence at a recent private family court hearing in London.
The judge said the man must pay his ex-partner a £1.6 million 'housing fund', more than £100,000 to cover furniture costs and other expenses, provide her with a car worth up to £110,000 every four years – and money for their daughter.
She said none of the people involved could be named in media reports of the case but said the man and woman were in their 40s.
The woman told the judge she liked to dress in 'good clothes' and had given an indication of how the girl had been brought up.
"She has produced receipts for the purchase of designer clothing," said Mrs Justice Roberts, who is based in the Family Division of the High Court in London, in her ruling.
"She describes how (her daughter) has been wearing designer clothes and footwear from her infancy.
"I was told that the child was given a Louis Vuitton handbag to match the mother’s own bag during one of their holidays.
"By way of example, she tells me that (her daughter’s) first ski suit cost nearly £1,000."
She said the woman had wanted a £2 million housing fund.
The man had offered up to £1 million and £96,000 a year to cover the cost of bringing up the girl.
