Astonishing Chris Smalling stat proves just how well Manchester United loanee is doing at Roma

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling is starring in the Serie A for Roma and two impressive statistics highlight that fact.

Smalling started 24 games in the Premier League for United last year but his position in the team became unclear following the big-money arrival of Harry Maguire in the summer transfer window.

That subsequently led to the 29-year-old sealing a loan move to Roma until the end of the 2019/20 season.

Smalling has since started seven matches in the Serie A for Roma, with the club sitting third after only one defeat through 11 games.

It has now been revealed that Smalling is one of only two centre-backs to have not been dribbled past this season when attempting a tackle.

The defender is also fifth in the rankings when it comes to aerial duels, with Smalling having a 71.43 per cent success rate.

Smalling's latest key role for Roma at the weekend had some United fans all speaking out in unison when he helped the club to a win over Napoli.

He provided a fantastic clearance off the line which led to fans claiming that he is performing better than any of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's players so far this season at the Red Devils.

Smalling is on loan at Roma until the end of the current season, though the Italian side are reportedly eager to secure his services on a permanent deal.
