Aston Villa vs Derby line-ups: Confirmed team news and starting XIs for Championship Play-Off Final

Derby boss Frank Lampard has handed a Play-Off Final start to former England and Chelsea teammate Ashley Cole.

The 38-year-old left back has made just 11 appearances since signing for the Rams in January, but starts in place of the suspended Scott Malone for Monday’s meeting with Aston Villa at Wembley.

Semi-final hero Jack Marriott has to settle for a place on the bench despite his two goal-cameo against Leeds last time out, and is joined by star striker Martyn Waghorn on his return from an Achilles injury, with Mason Bennett continuing to lead the line.

Veteran midfielder Tom Huddlestone also comes into the line-up in place of Duane Holmes, who was forced off before half-time in that semi-final clash.

Villa, meanwhile, make just one change to the side that started the second leg of their semi-final triumph over Midlands rivals West Brom.

That sees Albert Adomah given a start, despite missing his penalty in the shootout win, in place of Andre Green.
