Aston Villa v Man City betting tips and a reliable 7/2 first scorer

Both sides could be on their way to Wembley after midweek Carabao Cup results, but on Sunday it's back to the bread and butter of the Premier League.

We asked our City expert Tyrone Marshall for his verdict on  City's trip to Villa Park.

Win, lose or draw?

Both these sides had good results in midweek but City really hit their stride in winning 3-1 at Old Trafford and that could be a significant confidence boost for them. They've changed formation to good effect of late and with Villa short of options in attack after Wesley's injury they might get an easier ride at the back too. You can't look past a routine City win. Thepools.com certainly think so. They make City 1/6 to triumph in the Midlands. The 'upset' home win is a big 12/1 while even a draw is 15/2.

Who's a good bet for 1st scorer?

Neither Gabriel Jesus or Sergio Aguero started at the weekend and while one will almost certainly come back in, it's difficult to say which one for certain. That makes Raheem Sterling the safer option. He missed some good chances at Old Trafford but is rarely out of the goals for long now. He's a solid 7/2 first scorer price and 4/5 any time scorer.

Who's on the naughty step? (first card)

Rodri was booked in the win at Old Trafford and has now received seven yellow cards this season. With the quick feet of Jack Grealish likely to cause him a threat it would be no surprise if the Spaniard found his way into the book again.

Who's on pens?

Hard to say for certain. Sterling missed two in the same incident at Wolves recently but Pep Guardiola praised his courage for taking them. Ilkay Gundogan has a great record from 12 yards, but if Aguero starts he will be a certainty from the sport. Aguero is 12/5 first goal and 1/2 any time.

Will City keep a clean sheet?

City haven't had many this season but Villa's threat is limited without Wesley and they have begun to show signs of improvement at the back, especially when they play three centre backs. Back them to keep a clean sheet here.

A 'No' In the Both Teams To Score box is Evens.
