Aston Villa striker sends injury message amid Chelsea and Crystal Palace transfer links

Aston Villa have been on the lookout for a striker during the January transfer window.

Dean Smith's side have had to cope with limited resources in the striking area since it was revealed that Wesley had suffered a season-ending injury.

This has led to the midlands club being linked with Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi as they look to add the goals to the team that could help them to stay in the Premier League next season.

The Blues striker has also been linked with a move to Crystal Palace after a successful loan spell at the end of last season.

Frank Lampard on the quality Reece James adds to Chelsea

Wesley will not return to action for Aston Villa until the start of next season, and he has taken to his Instagram account to send a message regarding his injury.

"I would like to thank you for all the support and loving message that I have recieved," he wrote.

"Unfortunately, in football these things happen and we have the risk of having this kind of injury. But your support means a lot to me and it will help me during my recovery period.

"I truly appreciate your messages. I will be back for all of you stronger."

The 23-year-old arrived at Villa Park in the summer and five goals in his 21 league appearances this season.

Should Batshuayi leave Stamford Bridge during this window, it is likely that Chelsea will have got a replacement, having been heavily linked with Moussa Dembele.
