Aston Villa sign St. Pat's teenager Aaaron O'Reilly as Stephen Ward weighs up options after Stoke City exit

Aston Villa have signed St Pat’s teenager Aaron O’Reilly.

The 16-year-old joined the Saints academy in 2017 and won the double with the Under-15s last season.

He previously played for Crumlin United, Home Farm and St Francis.

Meanwhile, Stephen Ward is weighing up his options after leaving Stoke City.

The Republic of Ireland international, 34, had a one-season spell with the Championship club.

He joined from Burnley last summer but struggled with a back injury and featured just 17 times this season.

Last month’s appearance in a 3-0 defeat to Wigan was his first since late December,

Stoke, who are managed by former Shamrock Rovers boss Michael O’Neill, said: “The Club would also like to wish Stephen Ward good luck for the future.”
