Aston Villa were set to host Chelsea tomorrow evening in the Premier League, however today that has, of course, been suspended.
The FA and Premier League have put a postponement on all professional football until at least April 4, meaning there are no matches in the foreseeable future.
While the decision has been made to protect the health of many around the country as the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread, it will obviously have a huge effect on businesses.
There are also many contractors who would be set to work at the matches, with some employees on zero hours contracts.
With the late cancellation of the match, there would also have been a lot of preparation for the match at Villa Park.
However, Aston Villa found a great way to make sure that the food prepared did not go to waste.
The club originally tweeted: "850 staff packed lunches and hot food for tomorrow’s postponed game is being donated to support homeless charities.
"If your organisation is interested and able to collect food from Villa Park by 4.30pm today, please contact the @AVFCFoundation on 0121 327 2299 ext 5700."
They then followed it up a couple of hours later with: "We are pleased to say that all of the food has now been allocated to a number of homeless charities and housing shelters.
"Thank you Twitter for ensuring this food doesn’t go to waste and it is going to those who will really benefit."
Several clubs have also followed suit, with Brighton & Hove Albion and Watford doing the same.
