Aston Villa omit ex-Nottingham Forest ace Henri Lansbury from Premier League squad

Henri Lansbury's hopes of salvaging his career at  Aston Villa look to be over after he was omitted from their Premier League squad.

The former Nottingham Forest star was not included on the list which was submitted on Tuesday afternoon.

Lansbury was linked with a move away from Villa in the summer having played just 35 games for the club following his switch from the Reds for £3m in 2017.

Former Derby striker Darren Bent feels that Lansbury has not hit the ground running in the Premier League since leaving the City Ground, but feels he would be a worthy signing for a Championship side.

“You have to say in the Premier League he’s not really found his feet. He’s not really been able to play consistently in the Premier League and show he’s a Premier League player," Bent told Football Insider.

“In the Championship, there should have been people queuing up at the door to get a deal over the line.

“He’s been a really good Championship player in the past. He’s experienced, he knows what it takes.

“I was sure at some stage before the window shut that he would get that move, whether it was a loan or a permanent.

"For Championship clubs, you’d have to say he has proven Championship pedigree so somebody should have snapped him up.”
