Aston Villa fans hoping for Eddie Howe snatch and grab from Newcastle United

After the sacking of Dean Smith by Aston Villa some of the club's fans are calling for the Midlands side to swoop in and pinch Newcastle target Eddie Howe.

Former Bournemouth boss Howe was in the stands at the Amex for Newcastle United 's 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion yesterday, but there has been no announcement about him having signed a contract.

Indeed, with Aston Villa and Norwich City having sacked their managers over the weekend, there are suddenly a lot more Premier League options for out of work managers.

Newcastle fans have every right to feel a little twitchy as a result, especially after the appointment of Unai Emery fell through this week, and Aston Villa loudly suggesting their team should gazump relegation-threatened Newcastle.

On Twitter, one Villa fan, @soccerLjungg, wrote: “Let’s hope Howe hasn’t officially signed on at Newcastle.”

While another user @DepecheMoby, thought Howe would be reconsidering his options: "More silly stuff this time by Aston Villa sacking Dean Smith, missing loads of players, Lampard thinking twice about Norwich now I'd say Eddie Howe thinking twice about Newcastle too."

Another account, @WhatJasonDoes1, tweeted: "Better swoop in and get Eddie Howe quick!"

While @sandy_mandy felt the same: “Get Eddie Howe in quick.”

A user called @feeFahifofum wrote: "Said it yday, if Eddie Howe is smart he puts himself forward for the Aston Villa job instead. Perfect job for him."

While @shaggy1712 wrote: "Eddie Howe would be perfect for Villa."

There was also one user, @Peteryo30359797, who voiced the concern of some Newcastle fans: “Do nufc supporters think Aston villa will go after Eddie Howe now that Dean Smith has gone..... we need to get our skates on.”

Further news on what is happening with regards Newcastle United's next manager is expected next week.
