Aston Villa eye £20m winger and Leeds United star as Cardiff City close in on double signing - Championship rumours

The transfer window is beginning to heat up and the rumour mill is on the verge of going into overdrive already.

Here are the latest rumours from across the Championship.

Villa hopeful on Brentford winger

Aston Villa are still optimistic of securing a deal for Brentford winger Said Benrahma.

According to the Express and Star , Villa have been quoted a price tag of £20m for the 23-year old, but are looking to negotiate a lower fee.

Benrahma netted 11 goals for the Bees last season, his first in English football, and the West Londoners are reluctant to let him go on the cheap this summer.

Reports suggest Villa could well return with another offer in the next few weeks.

Leeds braced for Phillips bid

Villa are also believed to be keen on securing a move for Leeds United's Kalvin Phillips this summer.

According to Leeds Live , Leeds are preparing themselves for a formal bid from the Villans.

Previous reports have suggested that Phillips could carry a price tag of around £14m, with Leeds believed to be keen on keeping him at Elland Road.

Leicester in for Justin

Leicester City are in talks with Luton over a deal for right-back James Justin.

Justin was named in the Sky Bet League One team of the year last season, following an impressive campaign which ended in promotion to the Championship for the Hatters.

Graeme Jones’ side are keen to keep hold of Justin and will reportedly demand more than £10m for the 21-year-old.

Potters keen on Lindsay

Stoke City have agreed a deal to sign Barnsley’s Liam Lindsay.

According to reports, the Potters will pay an initial £2m fee for the centre-back with another £500,000 possible in performance-related add-ons.

Lindsay is set to undergo a medical and finalise personal terms with the Staffordshire side.

Baggies star attracting Premier League interest

Watford and Burnley are both in the hunt for West Brom defender Craig Dawson.

The experienced centre-back is set to be handed a return to the Premier League following an impressive season in the Championship.

And according to reports on Monday morning, Watford and Burnley are currently leading the chase for the 29-year-old.

Terriers chasing Forest Green teenager

Huddersfield are in talks to sign midfielder Reece Brown from Forest Green Rovers,

Town will be expected to pay a compensation fee of around £150,000 for the youngster, who was one of the shining stars in League Two last season.

Leeds United, Bristol City and Reading have also been linked with Brown, who scored 11 times and claimed 15 assists last season.
