Aston Villa boss Unai Emery dealing with seven injury doubts ahead of Leeds United visit

Unai Emery could be missing up to seven players when his Aston Villa side host Leeds United at Villa Park on Friday evening.

The Spaniard will be determined to right the wrongs of Villa's shock 2-1 home defeat at the hands of League Two outfit Stevenage in the FA Cup third round on Sunday.

Matty Cash sustained a fresh groin injury during the Stevenage defeat and will be assessed before Friday's contest. Ludwig Augustinsson is not expected to feature against the Whites after he limped off with a severe ankle problem following a challenge with Stevenage attacker David Amoo.

John McGinn could also be out for the remainder of the month, after it's understood the Scotland international suffered a 'grade two' tear in his hamstring against Tottenham Hotspur on New Year's Day.

Leander Dendoncker will serve a one-match ban following his red card against Stevenage. Jacob Ramsey, Tyrone Mings and Leon Bailey will also be walking a tightrope, as a booking against Leeds will see them miss Villa's following game against Southampton.

Their bookings total will reset after Friday's meeting with Leeds as the reason reaches the midway point. Alex Moreno could make his debut if he's signed before tomorrow's 12pm deadline, after Villa agreed a deal to sign the left-back from Real Betis for a reported £13.2 million.

Elsewhere, Diego Carlos and Jed Steer, are set to declare themselves fit for a return to action next month. Carlos, who joined Villa from Sevilla for a fee believed to be in the region of £26 million, has been unavailable since sustaining an Achilles injury against Everton in August. Steer has also been out for the Villains for the entire season with an Achilles injury.
