Aston Merrygold's 3-year-old son made him re-watch Masked Singer reveal 'over and over'

The Masked Singer's Robin aka Aston Merrygold has recalled his eldest son's reaction to when he was unveiled.

JLS singer Aston was watching the pre-recorded ITV show with on Sunday night with wife Sarah Richards and sons Grayson, three, and Macaulay, who's nearly one.

Coming third in the competition, the Robin disguise was lifted to reveal him underneath, before Badger was unmasked as Ne-Yo and winner Sausage as Joss Stone.

Recalling his kids' responses, Aston told The Mirror and other media: "One of them's way to young, he loves the colours but he's just under a year so he's like whatever.

"But the other one, Grayson, is three, and he's in that stage where not much can make him concentrate, it has to be something special to hold his attention."

Aston continued: "With that show being as wild as it is and crazy, he was like, 'what is this?' Massive animal creatures running around singing, lights are going off.

"When the unveiling happened, I thought it would go one of two ways - the character's heads gonna come off, and he'd either be like, 'no, don't want to see that', or it's a bit like the reaction that we did get, and he was like 'Daddy, it's you!' Perfect, job done!

"From the first moment I got the phonecall from the show, that was the reaction I wanted. He was like, 'put it on again...and again...and again.' Yeah, over and over."

A huge 10.6 million switched over to ITV to watch Joss named the second series' winner.

An average of 8.6 million watched, making it the biggest live TV audience of the year outside of news and sport, and a leap of 2.2 million from the first series' final.

Panellists Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora, Mo Gilligan and Davina McCall were joined by last year's champ Nicola Roberts.
