Aston Martin's wealthiest customers snap up the DB4 Zagato

Shares in Aston Martin ticked higher today after the luxury carmaker confirmed all its DB4 Zagato Continuations have been sold and shipped.

The supercar is Aston Martin’s most expensive car, worth £3 million a pop. It went on sale in June and six were sold in the third quarter, while the other 13 will be delivered in the fourth quarter.

The sales have given Aston a much-needed £48 million boost to earnings and mean it is on target to hit full-year results expectations. Philippe Houchois, analyst at Jefferies, said: “I don’t know who buys them. It’s a very closely guarded list. Maybe Jay Leno.”

But the sales weren’t enough to boost Aston’s third quarter as it swung to a £13.5 million loss. Revenues were down 11% after sales of its entry-level Vantage sports car remained weak.

Shares gained 3.6p to 421p.
