Aston Martin release James Bond £90k mini car with smoke screen and machine guns

From Goldfinger to Skyfall, James Bond has never been far from his world famous Aston Martin DB5 for high-speed getaways.

Now, a special replica of the motor has been created for 007 fans in celebration of the latest film No Time To Die's release next week.

On the surface, the vehicle looks just like the Aston Martin driven by Sir Sean Connery in Goldfinger, complete with gadgets, machine guns and smoke screens.

Upon closer inspection, the fully-drivable car is actually a miniature edition made two-thirds to scale that isn't roadworthy - and comes with an eye-watering £90,000 price tag.

The made-to-order car was produced in collaboration between The Little Car Company, 007 and Aston Martin to mark the franchise’s 25th release next week.

There's also a unique digital number plate and just like the original car, this special edition can produce a smokescreen ejected through the exhaust to aid a successful getaway.

It has even has a top top speed of 45mph and a skid mode - but the machine guns are also only for show however, although they will light up and make noise.

It will be built to 66 per cent scale of the original and is a convertible to allow an adult and child to sit comfortably side by side inside.

The Aston Martin DB5 has appeared in seven James Bond films. Sean Connery was reunited with the car in Thunderball in 1965.

Pierce Brosnan drove the iconic car in Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies, while Daniel Craig has used it in Casino Royale, Skyfall and Spectre.

The exciting new replica is the result of months of collaboration between the three companies, with the original Aston Martin DB5 3D-scanned for reference.

Oscar-winning special effects supervisor Chris Corbould OBE, who has worked on fifteen James Bond films, helped on the development of the car’s complex gadgets in miniature.

He said: "When I saw the DB5 Junior in the flesh, I was amazed at how identical it is to the full-sized car – it’s stunning. It’s an amazing feat of engineering."

James Bond fans desperate to get their hands on this miniature motor could expect to pay even more than a regular car, with the price tag setting you back £90,000.
