Asst village chief attacked by gunmen

YALA: An assistant village headman was seriously wounded by gunmen in Yaha district on Monday.

Police said Nimae Wodeng, the assistant chief for security at Bukae Kluko in tambon Katong, was returning to the village on a motorcycle about 10am after collecting rubber scraps.

He was attacked by men armed with pistols. He was shot and fell to the ground. His attackers fled.

Mr Nimae was admitted to Yaha Hospital with serious injuries.

Police were investigating.
