'Assault victim' wouldn't say what happened

Witnesses have been urged to come forward after the victim of a suspected assault declined treatment or to say what happened.

Cheshire Police said officers were called to Hallwood Park Avenue in Runcorn near KFC at about 11.30pm on Wednesday after receiving a report of an injured man. A force spokesman said the suspected assault victim appeared to have suffered bruising.

The casualty "wouldn’t say what had happened", and enquiries are “ongoing”. The spokesman said: “At around 11.30pm on Wednesday, July 20, police were called to reports of concerns for the welfare of a man on Hallwood Park Avenue, near to KFC.

“The caller reported the man was injured and appeared to have been assaulted. Officers attended the scene and located a 34-year-old local man who refused to tell police what had happened and did not want any medical treatment.

“Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact Cheshire Police at cheshire.police.uk , or call 101, quoting IML 1322520.”
