'Assassin's Creed III' Remastered Gets A Launch Date And A New Trailer

Assassin’s Creed III Remastered is headed to PS4, Xbox One and PC very soon.

Assassin’s Creed III brought the series to the Americas, and introduced the first Native American protagonist, Connor, to the Assassins vs Templars series.

It was a pretty good game, too, introducing the homestead system and setting the stage for Ubisoft’s new approach to open-world gaming.

I didn’t like it as much as its sequel, Black Flag, but I liked it enough to play through to the end. And now I can do it all over again with the new remastered edition releasing on March 29th on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Judging by the trailer, you can definitely see the graphical improvements over the PS3/Xbox 360 version:

The game is $40 on its own or part of the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey season pass—definitely the better deal when all is said and done.

I admit to a certain nostalgia for this time period in the series’ evolution. I wasn’t really writing about video games when I first played the series, starting with the original Assassin’s Creed on PC what seems like a lifetime ago.

Assassin’s Creed III was the first game in the series that I played as a video game writer and not just for fun. Black Flag came next and remains my favorite in the entire series. I never really got into the next few games, and while I enjoy the revamped gameplay of Origins and Odyssey, there’s something about the III/IV era that speaks to me more.

In any case, hopefully the remaster is good. It comes with all the DLC as well, so it’s a complete package. Time to get our American Revolution on.
