MOGA: Union minister of state for social justice and empowerment Ramdas Athavale on Monday reviewed the works being done under the Aspirational District Program in Moga district and issued necessary directions to the concerned departments.
Athawale appreciating the performance of district Moga stated it is better among the 112 aspirational districts of the country as Moga is currently ranked 26 and fulfilling the criteria set by Niti Aayog. He said that this program was started in 2018 under which an amount of Rs. 9 crore has been given to district so far which is being spent on health, education, infrastructure, agriculture and financial activities.
He asked the deputy commissioner Kulwant Singh that more work needs to be done for the development of skills, health, rural development, fish and animal husbandry, Anganwadi and poly house technology in the district.
The detailed proposals should be sent so that more funds can be sent to the district under this programme. He assured that there will be no dearth of funds for the district stating Punjab is known for feeding the entire country and every child in district Moga should get nutritional security.
He emphasized that every step should be taken to spread the benefits of government schemes to every eligible person. He also visited the drug de-addiction centre running at village Janer and reviewed the facilities being provided there to the drug addicts.
Expressing concern over the day-by-day decrease in groundwater in Punjab, he said that farmers should get out of paddy cultivation and go towards crop diversification. To save the environment, crop residues should not be burnt.
Deputy Commissioner Kulwant Singh informed about the demands of the district and assured that every effort will be made to fulfill all the indicators under this programme.
Ambassadors from 7 countries to visit Moga to check works under ADP
MOGA: The representatives of Ambassadors, High Commissioners from seven countries planned to visit district Moga on Tuesday to see the works being done under Aspirational District Programme (ADP).
Moga Deputy Commissioner Kulwant Singh said that the officials from USA, Holland, Russia, Kenya, Qatar, Mongolia and Tongo will visit Moga and will see different under ADP. They will visit the works at village Khosa Pando, will get information about one district one product and hold meeting with district officials.
He said after start of ADP in 2018, Moga district has got Rs 9 crore which have been spebt on facilities in the field of education, health, agriculture, animal husbandry.
