ASOS praised by shoppers for using model with cochlear implant

A shopper has praised ASOS for using a model with a cochlear implant.

The model, named Natasha Ghouri, has been pictured wearing different pairs of earrings on the online fashion retailer's website.

An ASOS fan tweeted on Monday: "Love to see it" followed by a smiley face and clapping hands emojis.

"Well done @ASOS hearing aids on an earring model".

Her tweet showed Natasha modelling silver stud earrings in a crystal baguette drop style for £6.

Another shopper highlighted the use of representation on the site earlier this year in April, when Twitter-user @asiasmith_16 wrote: "Definitely not crying because of @ASOS using an earring model with a hearing aid.

"It’s the first time I’ve ever seen a model with a hearing impairment, let alone an earring model, and it’s so refreshing to see this kind of representation for people like me."

After the tweet racked up thousands of likes and retweets, model Natasha responded to the tweet, explaining her condition.

She said: "This is a cochlear implant which is more advanced than hearing aids.

"I’m also modelling their clothes etc! So not just doing earrings which is the biggest achievement I’ve done! Proving out there that no matter what disability you’ve got.. you can do it".
