Popular streamer John “Tectone” has publicly defended his former OTK teammate Zack “Asmongold” following a massive online controversy regarding illegal immigration and border control. The backlash started after Asmongold made extreme statements about migrants during an August 3 livestream while reacting to a YouTube video. Shortly after the incident, Twitch temporarily banned Asmongold’s secondary channel, Zackrawrr, on August 7 for violating platform rules. While Twitch did not officially state the exact reason for the suspension, Tectone took to his own livestream on Rumble to support Asmongold, arguing that his words had been misunderstood.

John "Tectone" defends Zack "Asmongold" during his Rumble livestream
Instead of distancing himself from the controversy, John "Tectone" spoke openly about the situation during a recent broadcast on Rumble. He argued that Zack "Asmongold" was not trying to promote harm, but was instead pointing out how desperate circumstances force nations into tough decisions. Tectone explained that the comments were focused on taking harsh actions to stop women and children from being placed in ongoing danger by people crossing borders illegally.
Explaining his position to viewers, Tectone said:
“Now this can sound heartless. ... Illegal criminals from Africa are forcibly invading other countries, and they're using the women and children. ... The problem is, an extreme measure needs to be taken once to ensure that more women and children are not being put into the line of fire and the line of danger in perpetuity”
