Asmir Begovic insists he was only focused on 'putting his foot through the ball' when asked to take a penalty for Everton last night.
The new Blues goalkeeper scored a spot-kick and saved two as Everton won 10-9 in a shoot-out with Millonarios in Orlando.
A second-half Demarai Gray penalty drew Everton level in normal time but Rafa Benitez's side needed the penalty heroics of Begovic to secure victory in the Florida Cup.
Until September last year, Begovic had never taken a penalty in his career but having seen Wayne Hennessey save his effort when playing for Bournemouth, he was pleased to see his Everton spot-kick find the back of the net.
"It's funny, all these years I'd never taken a penalty and now I've taken two in the last year!" he said.
"Not really much went through my head, other than to get my head down and put my foot through the ball and hit the target, hope for the best - thankfully it worked out."
Begovic made a couple of notable saves during the friendly at the Camping World Stadium and delivered a confident performance in his first game for the club, following his free transfer signing.
"We've had a good few days training which has helped of course but, ultimately, it makes it easy when you play with good players," he said.
"All of the boys in front of me are top quality players and that understanding and things happen a little bit quicker when you play with good players. It makes my job, and our collective jobs, much easier."
