Christy Dignam has opened up about his father's death for the first time, saying he'll "never forget the pain."
The Aslan frontman's dad Christy Snr passed away at a nursing home earlier this month after battling Covid-19.
And the 'Crazy World' singer spoke of the lack of closure people currently have when they lose a loved one, due to not being able to have a wake or large funeral.
He told how only nine people were allowed attend the funeral in the end, even though his father had eight children, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Speaking to Ryan Tubridy on the Late Late Show on Friday night, he said: "When I got the phone call that he passed away the first thing that came into my head was 'I’ll never see his face again.’
"I really understood about Irish funerals then. The reason we have the wake is to give you some kind of closure. And we didn’t have that."
Christy also opened up about the pain of his dad, who had dementia, not understanding why family members couldn't visit him.

He said: "A week before he passed away, I got on the phone to him and he said, ‘Why are you not coming to visit me? Nobody is coming up to see me’.
"I tried to explain to him but he couldn’t grasp the concept. That was really heartbreaking."
But Christy added that he got a lot of comfort from being able to wave to his father just hours before he tragically died.
"He came up to the window and waved to us. That moment was amazing", he recalled.
"The nurse told us that about two hours later he lay down and that was it. It was like he said goodbye to us then."
