Asian Games: Indian shooters clinch team silver in Women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions

NEW DELHI: In a remarkable display of skill and precision, Indian shooters secured a silver medal in the fiercely contested Women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions event at the Asian Games on Wednesday.

The triumphant trio consisting of Ashi Chouksey, Manini Koushik, and Sift Kaur Samra exhibited exceptional marksmanship, accumulating a commendable total of 1764 points during the qualification round, securing a well-deserved second-place finish on the podium.

The gold medal, however, was claimed by the formidable hosts, China, who delivered a stunning aggregate score of 1773 points. South Korea, displaying remarkable prowess, clinched the bronze with a total score of 1756 points.

Sift Kaur Samra and Ashi Chouksey further solidified India's presence in the finals by clinching the second and sixth positions, respectively, during the qualification stage. Meanwhile, Manini Koushik, despite her valiant efforts, bowed out of the individual event, finishing in the 18th position.

Sift Kaur Samra's remarkable performance during the qualification round was a highlight of the day. She amassed a total of 594 points, not only securing her place in the finals but also jointly establishing a new Asian record for qualification in the process.

This silver medal triumph is a testament to the dedication and talent of India's women shooters, who continue to shine on the international stage.
