Defending champions India hammered Malaysia 8-1 for their third straight win of the tournament, led by striker Raj Kumar Pal's hat-trick and a brace by Araijeet Singh Hundal.
India now comfortably lead the table with nine points and have a foot inside the semifinals.
With their third straight defeat, last edition's runners-up Malaysia are now virtually out of reckoning.
India's last two matches are against China and archrivals Pakistan. In their first two matches of the tournament, India had defeated hosts China 3-0 and Japan 5-1.
The continuous goal-fest has now seen India scoring 16 goals in three matches, while conceding just two.
