An entire year group has been told to self-isolate after a positive coronavirus case at a Bristol primary school.
Both pupils and members of staff at Ashton Vale, based on Avebury Road, will now have to quarantine for 14 days.
School leaders said they understood it was a 'concerning' time for parents and children.
An email to parents said: "We have been made aware that a member of the Year 4 class has tested positive for Covid.19.
"We have sent home the entire year group, along with staff to self-isolate for 14 days.
"No other year groups or staff have been in close contact, therefore are not required to self-isolate.
"We know that you may find this concerning. but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working with Public Health England.
"The school remains open and your child should continue to attend as normal if they remain well and have not been previously asked to self-isolate.
"Some children and families may find this concerning, so please take the time to understand and explain the facts around Covid.19 to your child."
The exact number of pupils and staff in quarantine as a result of the outbreaks is not known, but at least 62 schools across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire have been impacted.
You should book a Covid-19 test if your child has at least one of the following:
A high temperature - This means if they feel hot to touch on the chest or back. You do not need to measure their temperature.
A new continuous cough - This means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or three or more coughing episodes in 24 hours. If your child usually has a cough, it may be worse than usual)
A loss or change to their sense of smell or taste - They've noticed they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal.
