Ashley Young insists Man Utd are 'very close' to turning corner under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Ashley Young insists Manchester United are “very close” to getting it right under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Under pressure after an indifferent start to the season, United badly needed three point against a Leicester side who fancy their chances of finishing above them.

And captain Young believes the narrow but significant victory suggests United are ready to turn the corner.

Young said: “We’re very close. We had to dig deep but the character we’ve got here, the strength, the grit we’ve got, the determination not to concede, helped us get the three points.

"We were resilient in our defending. If we had gone on and got a second goal it would have been totally different.”

Young also praised the performance of £80million centre-half Harry Maguire against his former club. “He talks non-stop, he’s a real leader and he can play as well,” said Young.

“We use the centre-halves a lot to play out from the back and everybody has confidence in him.

“He showed what a man he is, and I think as a backline we played a really good game.”
