Britain’s Ashley Theophane looks set to fight Adrien Broner in January for the WBA light-welterweight belt in Atlanta.

Theophane, who is promoted by Floyd Mayweather, has won his last six fights since losing to Pablo César Cano in 2013. He is not ranked in the top 15 by any of boxing’s four sanctioning bodies but, speaking on Thursday, Mayweather revealed that the 35-year-old will get a shot at Broner, who won the title against Russia’s Khabib Allakhverdiev in October.

“My fighter Ashley is from the UK … him and Adrien Broner will fight in Atlanta,” Mayweather said.

“We doing a big show in Atlanta at the end of January. Ashley and Adrien will be fighting for the title.”
