Ashley Cole predicts Europa League upset as Man Utd take on Sevilla

Sevilla are Ashley Cole's pick to win the Europa League ahead of their semi-final with Manchester United tonight.

The Spaniards are eyeing a sixth success in the competition having seen off Wolves in the last eight earlier this week.

United have been in hugely impressive form this year with Bruno Fernandes' arrival key to their change in fortunes.

But Cole, who won this competition in 2013 with Chelsea, has backed the La Liga outfit to lift the trophy on Friday night.

He told Stadium Astro: "Manchester United against Sevilla, I think that's a very, very tough one.

"I’m going to say, flip of a coin, Sevilla will win the whole competition. I think they are the strongest, especially in this format.

"I enjoy the way they play, a very attacking team, great individual players. I think they are going to win the whole thing."

Sevilla finished fourth in La Liga and dumped United out of Europe in 2018 with a win at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has since succeeded Jose Mourinho and is looking to replicate the success he achieved as a player.

United fell short in the semi-finals of the FA Cup recently but the Norwegian is confident they will be better for the experience.

"We are physically definitely ready," he said. "Mentally the boys will be ready because a semi-final everyone would want to take part and join in. I just want them to enjoy it.

"For me as well, looking forward to the semis. We’ve been already twice now in the semi this season.

"Of course we’re happy with going as far as we have but we’re not satisfied. We want to go one step further.

"You know that when you come to a semi-final, you’re playing against big teams. Good teams with quality. It’s time to step up for big players, big-game moments.

"You have to have 100 per cent focus because any little moment can change the game. We’ve learned that it’s very painful to lose a semi-final."
