Ashley Cole makes claim about Arsenal's invincible Premier League record to anger fans

Former Arsenal defender Ashley Cole wants the Gunners' Invincible record to be broken.

Cole was, of course, part of the famous Arsenal side that went the whole season without losing, winning the Premier League title in a way never done before and never done since.

Every season, Arsenal fans, and indeed former players, take a great deal of confort and pride from the day when all 20 Premier League clubs have at least a '1' in the defeat column.

But surprisingly, former left-back Cole says he wants to see his and his old teammates' efforts outdone.

Arsenal's next move after Gabriel

"Listen, history is there to be broken," he said on a Marvel YouTube feature. "I want someone to beat it.

"It's gotta be done."

Former teammate Sol Campbell jumped in with an objection, saying: "We beat a record that was there for 100 years!"

Cole asked if Campbell wants to see the record beaten, the former centre-back replied: "Yeah, but give us a 100 years!"

Liverpool were tipped to go the whole season unbeaten last season, but after the turn of the year, they suffered defeat to Watford and went on to lose three games.

Chelsea came close in 2004/05 but lost one game as they set a points record which was beaten by Manchester City in 2018, though the Citizens lost two games.
