Ashley Cole lifts lid on training ground meeting with Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel

Ashley Cole has opened up on a meeting he had with Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel last week.

Tuchel, who has taken the Blues to two finals during his first few months in the dugout at Stamford Bridge, has deservedly received plenty of plaudits.

Since the German coach took over from Frank Lampard in January, Chelsea have tightened up defensively and seem to have found the right balance in attack as well - with the forwards coming into form in the most important stage of the campaign.

As well as two cup finals, the Blues are in a really strong position to qualify for next season's Champions League through the Premier League.

Cole, who serves in the coaching staff of Chelsea's Under-15s team, has now revealed a meeting he had with Tuchel, where the aspiring coach got to see some training drills behind the scenes at Cobham.

Speaking on Sky Sports, the former Blues left-back said: “I had the pleasure to have a meeting with him last week, with a few of the academy staff, and just to get an insight of how he works on a daily basis.

"It was great to see he’s got that happy environment, I think he’s got all players on side, they’ve got that work ethic and willingness to want to improve and to get better, so I can kind of see the way he works and understand now when I watch Chelsea about the type of passing patterns and the way he sees football.

"It was brilliant for me as a young coach. The unforced errors I think have gone, there were a few in the West Brom game but there was a red card, a few positional issues.

"But so far, he has done a great job here and I hope following on from this season, that next season will be even better."
