Ashley Cole has waxed lyrical over Mason Mount's latest performance for Chelsea in a 2-0 home win against Fulham.
The Blues picked up a vital three points at Stamford Bridge in their bid to land a top four spot in the Premier League, moving six points ahead of West Ham, who play Burnley on Monday.
It was a Kai Havertz double that secured the win, but midfielder Mount once again played a pivotal part, pulling off an incredible assist for the first goal.
Mount controlled a long ball with a "sublime" touch, as Cole described it, before playing in Havertz, who latched onto the through ball before slotting home.
"It's sublime. We spoke about it. Mason is so vital for this team," Cole told Sky Sports. "He makes runs in behind. The touch to take it away from the two players.
"The spin on the ball and he brings it down, it's tremendous. He doesn't even look. He takes two players out of the game, it's a great through ball and finish."
Cole added: "He is a humble boy. He's a Chelsea fan living the dream. But he wants to work hard, to improve, to get better, to score goals and improve for his team.
"He shows that enthusiasm and that's what makes him one of the best players in world football right now, definitely for Chelsea."
Speaking about how important Mount is for Thomas Tuchel, Cole added: "He's pivotal in how they want to press, how they want to control the ball.
"His understanding to get between lines, turn and drive, the quality of his final ball. He is vital for this Chelsea team."
Mount now has eight goals and nine assists this season in 48 appearances across all competitions.
